Book two to three months out
For wedding gowns, schedule your first fitting 2–3 months before the event date.
Bring the whole look
The dress, the shoes you’ll wear, and any undergarments — the fit is only right when everything else is. Long hair? Bring a clip.
Fitted until it’s right
Straps, seams, hem and shape — pinned on you, in the studio, not guessed from a hanger.
Bustled for the reception
The train comes up so you can walk, dance and greet every table without a handful of gown.
Less than two weeks before the big day? Call anyway — rush work may be possible, and a rush fee may apply.

Fifteen-plus years of Shawnee weddings, proms and everything in between.
Sharon studied fashion merchandising at Pittsburg State University and has spent more than fifteen years altering gowns and formal wear for Shawnee — first for over eight years near Nieman Road as Rose’s Alterations, and now on Johnson Drive as Couture Alterations by Sharon.
It’s a one-woman studio, and that’s the point: the person who pins your gown at the first fitting is the person who sews it, and the person who hands it back.
